A couple of times during lessons I’ve had to try and persuade my trainers that it’s not that I’m mot trying, but Isla is having a major strop! No one believes me!
I don’t know about other highland ponies so can only comment on her, but she likes to let me know that she’s having a moment. It’s more of a feeling, she speeds up and gets a bit strong. Now I am very happy with her level of temper tantrum, don’t get me wrong! I just wish people would believe me lol!
I have am Isla scale of strop going from 1 to 10. Her impressive Spanish walk at the hope for horses competition was a level 10.
I should say I also have a comparison scale of what I would call a normal horse strop and to be honest I don’t think we’ve made it past a 3 yet!
My good friend Kerry Evans did at least get to sit on her while she was have a “I know better than you moment”. Which made her laugh. At least someone knows!
We had a lot of fun at fieldhouse equestrian centre, prelim7 has a long canter. Boy it’s amazing how fast those little legs can go! Breaks seemed to have stopped working and for a second there I thought we might leave an Isla/Sam hole in the end of the school!!
No matter what I always ending up smiling when I’m with the wonderful Isla pony
